Pigment Flocculation, Haze & Loss of Specular Gloss
पेंट में चमक कम होना व पिगमेंट जमना
What the defect looks like
Industrial paint or marine protective coating exhibits low gloss (60° specular gloss < 70 units), loss of tinting strength, color flooding, and severe pigment settling (caking) in storage drums within 30 days.
Root-cause mechanism
Steric barrier failure in pigment suspension. After high-speed bead milling, finely ground pigment particles re-agglomerate (flocculate) due to attractive Van der Waals forces when the resin/solvent binder phase lacks sufficient wetting power and non-saponifiable plasticizer cushioning.
This diagnosis is a technical starting point. Confirm the cause with controlled checks before changing production.
