Tool Chatter, Micro-Welding Seizure & Poor Surface Finish

टूल टूटना, वाइब्रेशन व कटिंग में वेल्ड होना

What the defect looks like

During heavy broaching, gear shaving, deep drilling, or cold heading operations on tough alloy steels, cutting tools exhibit excessive vibration (chatter), rapid flank wear, edge chipping, and catastrophic micro-welding seizure between tool face and chips.

Root-cause mechanism

Collapse of boundary lubrication film under extreme contact pressure (>2,000 MPa) and localized frictional flash temperatures (>450°C). Without chemically active Extreme Pressure (EP) chlorine donors, nascent metal asperities on the workpiece and tool weld together under high pressure, tearing out tool crater material upon separation.

This diagnosis is a technical starting point. Confirm the cause with controlled checks before changing production.
